A
short drive from Belfast, the first stop on this tour
is a Carrickfergus Castle, built in the 12th century
by knight John De Courcy. This is one of the finest
Norman castles in Europe. The history of the castle
is told in an audiovisual presentation and brought to life by a cast of faithfully recreated
characters from 800 years ago. From here the tour continues
along the Antrim Coast Road were you can enjoy some
of the finest coastal scenery anywhere in the world,
as the sea meets cliffs and mountains and pretty villages
come into view.
On the drive through the famous Glens of Antrim, you
can visit Glenariff Forest Park. The diversity of topography,
woodland and habitat found within the park provide,
for the visitor an area of superb natural beauty in
which to walk, enjoy the tranquillity and admire the
spectacular views.
